James River Shape Note Convention

Welcome to the 2026 James River Shape Note Convention!
The Richmond Shape Note Singers joyfully welcome all voices—whether you are a seasoned singer or brand new to the tradition. We strive to make this gathering accessible to everyone, recognizing that our historic building was adapted for ADA accessibility after its construction and may present some challenges. A separate document with detailed accessibility information is available, and our volunteers are ready to assist so that all may fully share in the singing.

Please join us for our annual shape note convention. We will be singing from the Shenandoah Harmony and the 2025 Denson , with Valley Pocket Harmonist at the Social. Books available for purchase on a limited basis. Loaners available.
Dinner on the grounds. We are encouraging folks to BYO water bottles and travel mugs as able.
