During the first program\, they will not only speak to the historical significance of this music in Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley\, but also perform and demonstrate shape note singing. The second program will be an interactive workshop with other local shape note singers to learn about the musical style and participate in a group singing.

DESCRIPTION:The 22nd Annual Festival will be held September 10–12\, 2026\, at the Clarke County Ruritan Fairgrounds in beautiful Berryville\, VA! \nNotes for ticket buyers\nIf you plan to camp with your vehicle\, you’ll need either a Large Vehicle Camping Pass or a Car Camping Pass\, depending on your vehicle type. Every vehicle entering the event camping area must have a Camping Pass\, but only one is required per vehicle. \nIf you prefer not to camp with your vehicle\, free parking is available in the Day Parking Lot. You can park there and set up a tent in the event camping area as long as you have a 3-Day Weekend General Admission or a Single Day pass. Mega Melon Backstage Pass holders and those with Premium Electric Sites receive Vehicle Camping Passes automatically. \nWednesday Early Arrival tickets are sold per person\, not per vehicle. The festival celebrates the Woodbooger\, a mythical Bigfoot-like creature rumored to roam Flag Rock Recreation Area and Southwest Virginia. \nAbout The Festival: The Woodbooger Festival is a family-friendly event. It was created to celebrate Norton’s unique city and mountain landscape\, as well as its natural resources\, folklore\, and history. Events will take place in downtown Norton and then move to Flag Rock Recreation Area. This festival celebrates the area’s unique recreational activities\, supports local businesses\, and provides residents and visitors with chances to participate in a variety of outdoor\, social\, and educational activities. \nAttendees can enjoy live music\, food\, craft vendors\, contests\, Bigfoot expert presentations\, guided hikes and rides\, canoe rides\, a 5k trail race\, a Woodbooger Night Search\, kids activities\, and much more! \nThe 2026 festival will be held Sept. 25-27.
